So I most definitely didn't complete the 48 hour challenge. Nor did I really even start it. Right now, I'm stuck twenty pages into Catchfire. Whoops.
I'm going to have to make a trip to the library (and by that, I mean Emmaus, Solehi, and, most definitely, Bethlehem) to take out books on tape to put on my Zune. At work, we're allowed to listen to mp3-players, so I ended up listening to the first five Harry Potters that way during the month leading up to Deathly Hallows. This year I'm planning to do the entire LOTR, and maybe even brush up on some Dickens or Jane Austen. I'll definitely have to get Portuguese Irregular Verbs, and the other two books in that trilogy (if you will).
That was also how I finished Whales on Stilts! (It's an excellent listen), and the third Septimus Heap, and The Thief Lord and The Tale of Despereaux, and, um, other ones that I can't recall at the moment.
The libraries here around have a pretty nice selection of books on cd. Emmaus even offers this download of the audio files of some books (on their website). The catch is, you can't burn them to your iPod or Zune (I'm not too keen on lugging my laptop around just so I can listen to a book).
But anyway. I'll probably also do the entire seven books of HP again. Probably.

48 Hour Book Challenge
Well. We'll see how well this turns out (it'll be the first weekend of my return for the entire summer, so my family might want to see me, not just a book jacket). But, anyway.
So, my plans for reading include (i'll edit in the authors later):
Foundling/ D.M. Cornish (I think I'm actually 50 pages into this book)
The Runes of the Lyre/
Catchfire/
Messenger/ Lois Lowry
Theodosia and the Serpents of Chaos/
The Bellmaker/ Brian Jacques
The Keeper of the Isis Light/ Monica Hughes
and whatever books I find on my bookshelf that I still need to read. Oh! Like:
The Prophet of Yonwood/ Jeanne duPrau (I know I'm spelling that wrong)
Except that was in my sister's possession last I checked, so who knows where it is know? Probably buried under the piles of stuff covering her room.

a broken pattern
(to be said in a chip/dale voice): Well, what do you know. I've broken my pattern of posting once a month (although it is kind of stretching things to their limits). Ah, well.
I'm currently playing catch-up with a bunch of books. Let's see. In my shelf right now I've got:
The Bellmaker/ Brian Jacques (yes, I am rather far behind)
The Book of Story Beginnings/ Kristen Kladstrup
Piratica/ Tanith Lee
City of Flowers/ Mary Hoffman
The Dark Hills Divide/ Patrick Carman
Dragonsdale/ Salamanda Drake (right-o)
and on top of my shelves I've got
Epic/ Conor Kostick, which I am currently reading.
Immediately before that, I had finish Heir Apparent/ Vivian Vande Velde. Which is two futuristic fantasy adventure role-playing books back to back.
I should probably get started on my paper topic (I, like a mad person, decided to take a summer course. Luckily and unfortunately it's only three weeks long. So I can't really afford to slack off)

short update
Well, it's another month again. I've been wicked busy with not finishing Script Frenzy, packing, finals, more packing, more finals... And now it's May 6th and I need to finish packing and catch a 6am flight tomorrow.
More to come after I've caught up on my sleep

well, then
so... it's been a month since I've written anything here. Hooray.
I have on the other hand, come up with some sort of an outline for one of my (too) many story ideas. It actually went pretty well, surprisingly.
In the past month, I got the opportunity to get Advanced Reader's Copies from HarperCollins of the fourth Septimus Heap book, Queste, as well as three new books (two of which are the first in a series or trilogy or what have you):
The Magic Thief by Sarah Prineas
Sisters of the Sword by Maya Snow
and The Mystery of the Martello Tower by Jennifer Lanthier.
Queste comes out this month (yay!), and Martello Tower comes out in May. The other two (both of which are the first in a series/trilogy/other grouping of books) are due out in June.
Now that I've gotten a chance to read yet-to-be-released books, I may as well use the "free time" I'll have to read previously published books (namely all of them). "Free time" being a relative word of course, as I've got finals coming up all too soon, and I've decided to participate in Script Frenzy this year. I'm currently up to the astonishing count of 7 total pages. Yay.

Blogs and Bacon Bits
Don't tell, but I've got sooo much to do this week before Friday. And what better way to remedy this overload of work than to create a blog? That's right: there simply isn't any.
I suppose I could start off with something witty and clever or insightful and resonating, but, seriously, I've got stuff to do. Like, I need to finish reading Cressida Cowell's How to Be a Pirate before Thursday, so I can return it the Bibliothek before it's due (although I don't think it's one of the ones I've renewed already). And by "finish," I mean start.
It's supposed to snow tomorrow. A lot. I'm kind of hoping that classes are canceled. But that hasn't happened to me yet. So it follows that I should now get back to doing homework. Maybe that will trick the school into canceling class. One can hope.
